Our Commitment to Accessibility

LaidBackRider is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to everyone — including people with disabilities. We believe that every person deserves equal access to information about our electric recumbent trikes, which are themselves designed to make outdoor riding accessible to adults with a wide range of mobility needs.

Accessibility Standards

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines help make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including:

  • Visual impairments (blindness, low vision, color blindness)
  • Hearing impairments
  • Motor disabilities
  • Cognitive disabilities

Features We’ve Built In

  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are reachable via keyboard
  • Screen reader support — semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and descriptive alt text on all images
  • High contrast text — text meets WCAG 4.5:1 contrast ratio requirements
  • Scalable text — the site remains functional when text is scaled up to 200%
  • Focus indicators — visible focus outlines on all interactive elements
  • Descriptive links — link text describes the destination, not just “click here”
  • Skip navigation link — allows keyboard users to skip to main content
  • Responsive design — works across all screen sizes and devices
  • No auto-playing media — no videos or animations that start without user action

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some areas of our site may not yet meet all WCAG 2.1 AA criteria. We are actively working to identify and address these gaps. If you encounter a specific barrier, please let us know.

Assistive Technologies Supported

Our site has been tested with the following assistive technologies:

  • NVDA screen reader (Windows)
  • VoiceOver (macOS and iOS)
  • TalkBack (Android)
  • Keyboard-only navigation (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)

Report an Accessibility Issue

We welcome feedback. If you experience an accessibility barrier on our website, please contact us:

When reporting an issue, please include:

  • The URL of the page where you encountered the barrier
  • A description of the problem
  • The assistive technology you are using (if any)

Alternative Access

If you are unable to access any content or complete any process on our website due to a disability, we will work with you to provide the information or transaction through an alternative method. Please contact us and we will respond promptly.

Ongoing Efforts

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time project. We regularly:

  • Test new features for accessibility before launch
  • Train our content team on accessible writing practices
  • Review third-party tools and plugins for accessibility compliance
  • Monitor our site against updated WCAG guidelines as they are published
